We’re delighted to announce that Jenny Smith-McOnie will be showing her work at the Society of Women Artists Exhibition 2017, at the Mall Galleries, London SW1.
The exhibition showcases cutting edge work. “Art is often about pushing out the boundaries” says SWA President Sue Jelley “and I am in great favour of grasping the nettle in our search for innovation”. Expect to see a diverse range of paintings, sculptures and printmaking.
Jenny will be showing work from her pattern cutting series.
My recent work takes inspiration from my love of dressmaking. I wanted to create a series of prints that reflect the complicated and mathematical technique of pattern cutting a garment, a process which aims to turn a flat form into a 3D one which fits around the body. My prints reflect the complexity and many stages of the pattern cutting process and how completely absorbing I find it as a pursuit.
The exhibition is open from 4th to the 9th July 2017. See the link here for full details of opening times and visitor information.
