Art At the Airfield…

A pop-up art fair at an airfield? Absolutely!

On Saturday 18th June, the Discover Original Art group created a pop-up art show as part of the annual ‘Midsummer Madness’ charity event at Holmbeck Farm Airfield, near Wing.

Staging an art fair in a marquee isn’t particularly unusual, but having our marquee on the edge of a runway with aeroplanes and gyrocopters whizzing past was a first for all the Discover artists, and certainly made the event unforgettable.

One of the artists, Victoria Johns, even took to the air herself, taking up the offer of a flight over the surrounding area. Victoria’s work is often inspired by a bird’s-eye view of the countryside, so it was an especially exciting experience for her.

It was a huge pleasure to meet and chat to so many lovely people at Holmbeck. The feedback we received was very positive and we do hope to be involved again in future events.

A big thank you to everyone who came and to the organisers for inviting us.
